Another poem to make you think, about your words, about the power of your words. This was written back in March 2009.

The Sword or the Pen
The power of the sword is fallen.
The power of the writer is sharp, for words have no end.
My friend though my life you may take.
My walk through this world soon may break.
To tears will their be shed.
Good ridance to you will be felt and maybe even said.
But if it were the sword in my hand I carried,
None would wish to see me buried.
The power I have will reach beyond the grave it is true.
Words spoken may at once be forgotten, this is true.
But the written word lives on even as on eternity shores I must one day walk.
To fear the sword is not so wise. Wise is those who fear the pen that can talk.
With words the soul is healed, with words is the heart broken.
The power of the sword can never be as the power of the pen that has spoken,
Strength and power is in the one who yields the pen.
And to that there is no end.
If it is fame you seek, put down your sword.
Pick up your pen, and find the place to place your words.
The battle is not won by the sword.
Only by the written word.
Treaties are signed not by the sword, but by the pen.
The final battle is checked by the pen, that is when all is at an end.
Is your name written in the book?
Have you dared to take a look?
Your name is not in the book through the power of the sword.
The names in the book are there by the power of the written word.
Power comes not in the sword.
Power comes through the word.
This I though you should know.
So now I have told you, so I will go...
