Budget Vacations
Do You Really Need to Get Away?

With the economy in such a mess for so many, you may not really be thinking much about taking a vacation this year or even next. But maybe you would really, really like to get a way if only for a day.

So you are cutting corners, saving as much money here and there as you can. Thinking maybe in time you will have enough saved for a nice vacation. Hoping you will save enough for at least a day or two, before you are a hundred and two.

Well, maybe you are not thinking of a vacation that will require a second mortgage. But you are thinking that you would really like something to do, other than searching for a new career, new home, or chores.

Speaking of chores, this can really get to be quite tedious when that is mostly all you have time or money to do.

Getting away even for just a day or hopefully to, could be so refreshing.
So every now and then you visit a few places online thinking perhaps there will be a special of some kind to a place you always wanted to go.

But even the most economical vacation package that you see is way out of your budget. So what do you do?

Well I suppose you could go clean another closet, organization is important right? Maybe you will even go clean and organize someone else's house.

Now that's an idea, cleaning houses "what a vacation". So disgusted you chase the thought of a nice relaxing vacation right out of the room.

Thinking there will be no way this year, maybe not even next year.
Money's a little tight, and the mortgage man has been calling a lot, your employment at risk due to employer's cut backs.

You wonder if you will ever be able to take a vacation again.

Well the whole major point of a vacation is to take a few days off, to relax and have fun.

Really there is no need to go find a place in the tropics, or a distant mountaintop, or an ocean cruise.

You can take a vacation in your very own home. Yes, this is possible. Maybe not, as romantic as you would desire, but all the same it can be done.

First off finish up any chores needed around the house, not to sound mean, but a clean orderly home is more relaxing than a cluttered mess. Maybe find a bored friend to help. Promise a dinner or something when all is done. It could be something off a local fast food menu, or maybe a salad, or sandwich.

Next after all around the house is done, invite your long lost friends over, one or two at least, plan a game of bingo or cards. Remember back when only the really rich to vacations out of town?

And all the rest of the class stayed close by, visiting at each other's houses. If not then maybe your family was one of the well to do, or at least one of those who had lived frugally all year long just so all the money saved could be spent.

Vacationing is really more than just a change of scenery it is a change of routine. Changing your routine, finding something different to do, even if it is doing the same thing you normally do, just at a different location, can help your mind to relax.

Vacation around your home, invite friends over, have everyone bring a meal or dessert to share. Play games, and be content with where you are.

Remember not everyone goes on a vacation. If ever you have been away on a vacation then you have blessings to share.

True friendships these days are so rare. It is in part because when someone has a few days away from work, that time is spent as far from home as possible.

If you would like to know your neighbor's you sort of need to be home when they are there.

So maybe a vacation from spending so much on the latest "Budget Vacation" is a better idea.

Maybe when the economy has improved for you or those near you, you will have decided that you can be content just where you are. And will truly enjoy your next vacation away, because it will not be one of escape, it will be one that you can share.

Taking a friend or two or three along as you go.
