Smoking
Cigarette's Take More Than They Are Worth
You may have been smoking long enough by now to want to stop, so what is your plan?
Well that may work, for you, but it whether it does or not it will cost you a lot of money. And a lot of time.
So think about things this way, if your thinking of spending all that money at the doctor's office not to mention time. There is another way. Yes, a slightly more difficult way, but you can do it. And it will be benificial to you.
What you need to do is first call the doctor's office or your insurance company and find out just what an office visit will cost you. Okay, have you gotten that dollar figure? If you haven't I'll wait...
Okay, now I am assuming you have the amount you would be charged for a consultation visit. Or a first appointment. Did you remember to find out the cost of any medications? This is very helpful information.
Now, that you have done that, go to your bank and open a separate account, this will be your quitting cigarette smoking account, or whatever you want to call it.
Now what you need to do is withdraw the amount you would of spent for a doctors appointment and any prescriptions that may of been prescribed to help you through your addiction.
Once you have done this, take the money you have withdrawn and place it in your new quitting smoking account. What your going to do is pay yourself to quit smoking. With this separate account you can not draw any out of this account at all for a period of time set by you. Perhaps six months or a year.
Treat this a account as if you are paying the doctor for your visit to learn to quit smoking, also for prescriptions a doctor may give someone who is trying to stop smoking. Also you will use this account to put money in that you would of spent on cigarette's. If you live close to your bank and drive by it often just go deposit the amount you would of spent on cigarettes any time you think to purchase them, if possible. If not possible, set the money aside in an envelope until you can get to the bank.
Remember don't touch this money. It is the same money that you would normally just burn up through smoking cigarette's. So this is not money you should be missing. Try to add to this account as often as you would if you were still buying cigarette's. This is a way to force yourself to make an emergency savings account, that will be of great benifit to you if you ever have an emergency. It will also be a benifit to you if you are able to save this back to use for a vacation of some sort.
Okay, beside's the extra money you will have from stopping smoking on your own cold turkey, did you know there are real scientfic health benifits to stopping smoking now?
The first 72 hours will be your hardest. But remember you can do it. It may be a good idea to plan to take this 72 hours off work just so you can deal with the physical withdrawal symtons easier. It is hard to go through withdrawals when you are in public, at least it would be for me. Especially as withdrawal is very unpleasant.
Now if you are aware and prepared to deal with the unpleasant parts of quitting cold turkey. You will find that as you make it through each day it will get easier.
No one was born smoking, even if your mom smoked while she was pregnant you were not born with a cigarette in your mouth, not to mention no one in their right mind is going to offer a baby a cigarette to smoke.
Cigarette's take more from you than any pleasure's you may think you have from smoking.
Cigarette's can take the best years of your life. And make your last years very uncomfortable. Trust me the end results of a life time of smoking are just not good.
My grandfather died from a smoking related illness, he also lost one lung to lung cancer. Caused by smoking. I had a neighbor who was a chain smoker who died because her health was so ruined from smoking, she caught pnemonia then because her lungs were already weak from the copd (which was caused and aggravated by her smoking) she died, leaving behind several children the youngest being only ten. Her two oldest were grown, but her youngest went into foster care because she died. She never lived to see her daughter graduate a year later or saw her daughter get married. She also will not see her youngest child grow up. She lost a lot because of smoking.
Smoking takes things away from you that you can not replace. The sooner you stop smoking the sooner you prevent loosing what can not be replaced.
Cigarette's take more than just your money, they take your health, and your freedom, you become a slave to the maintaining of your habit.
