Who is Your Master?
Are You Serving God or Satan?
The Bible says that you cannot serve two masters.
Let's read a couple of verses from our Bibles.
Turn to {Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:23}
{Matthew 6:24} No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
{Luke 16:23} No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
What do these two verses say? They say that you can't serve two masters. So if you are saved why are you trying to?
So again, who are you serving God or Satan? You know that you are serving one or the other right?
Let's review again, what does God say in the Bible?
He says that we cannot serve two masters. Because we will love the one and hate the other, we will cause ourselves to be unstable and bring confusion to our lives. And we bring confusion to the lives of the lost when we try to serve two masters.
If you are saved and not putting God first then you are bringing confusion to your life, and the Bible says that God is not the author of confusion.
{1 Corinthians 14:33}
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
When we who are saved are not fully trusting in God and putting him first in every area of our lives then we are opening the door wide for Satan to just walk right in, and laugh at us when we have problems. That we cause by not completely and fully trusting in God. Satan does not have to do anything when we are bringing confusion into our lives by being an unstable and unlearned Christian.
See,
{Daniel 9:8}
O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
Sin brings confusion to our lives and makes it so others can't see Christ in us, so we also confuse the lost around us when we tell them that they need to be saved. The lost can see we are double-minded when we say we trust God but we worry about everything, and we try to put the things of this world beside of God. God is a jealous God and he said we can't worship him and idols.
(Deuteronomy 4:24)
For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
{Deuterromy 5:9}
Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
(Deuteronomy 6:15)
(For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
(Leviticus 19:4)
Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
{Leviticus 26:1}
Ye shall make you no IDOLS nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.
{James 1:8}
James tells us that a double-minded man is unstable in all in his ways. A Christian who is not fully sold out to God is double-minded or unstable.
(James 1:8)
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Satan does not have to do anything to the double-minded unstable Christian who is not fully trusting in God. All he does is set back and laugh as the "Christian" brings confusion to their own lives by not studying God's word, and by not fully accepting and believing that God is who he says he is.
{2 Peter 3:16-18}
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
We should not be like those who are confused who have not grown because they have not stayed in the word of God. If we are to fully trust in God then we need to know what it is we are trusting in. How can we do that if we don't know what God has said in his preserved word?
When we read and study the Bible then we can see where God has brought others through different things. When we study the Bible we can learn more about God, and we grow more in God. Helping us to have a strong foundation.
A Christian who tries to serve two masters is an unhappy and unstable person who also is a bad testimony for Christ.
The lost are not going to want to accept Christ when they can see no difference between the person who claims to be saved, & themselves. If a lost person sees a saved person complaining & worrying all the time, they are not going to believe that the saved person's faith is right. Instead they will think it is one of many ways to heaven.
The unstable Christian causes confusion in their own homes and in the lives of the lost, and Satan just laughs as the "Christian" leads people astray by not fully trusting in God.
So who are you serving today? Are you serving God or Satan? God said we can't serve two masters.
God is a jealous God, turn to (Exodus 20:5) and (Exodus 34:14) (Deuteronomy 4:24, 5:9, and 6:15.)
When we try to serve God and Satan we make God angry. Making God angry is sin. We should not do that.
When we do not put God first in our lives we bring confusion to our lives, and to others, plus we are a bad testimony.
The lost can't see that we are trusting in God when we act just like them.
We have to be different, to be the same is to bring shame to the name of Christ.
If God is not first in your life, then you are trying to serve two masters.
Are you fully sold out for God? Or are you sold out for self? The lost don't know any better than to be sold out for self, because they are not saved. Their god is the god of this world whose name is Satan.
They are fully and completely serving their god, are you fully and completely serving your God?
Are you serving God or are you serving Satan, do you know?
Can others tell who you are serving? What does your life say about your faith?
Are you bringing confusion to the lives of both the saved, & the lost because you don't spend more time with God than you do with the entertainments of this world?
Or are you bringing light to this world by showing your Christ to a lost and dying world.
Do you fully trust in God, or are you trying to ride the fence? God says we cannot serve two masters, because we will love the one and hate the other. Who do you love? Satan or God, what does your life say?
Are you a Christian that is doing the work of God or are you a Christian who is working for Satan?
If you have not fully placed God first then you are working for Satan.
You can have peace in your home & in your life if you stop working for Satan. Every time a saved person complains, or worries they are allowing Satan to be the master of their life.
So who are you working for? Are you working for God, or are you working for Satan?
God tells us we can only love one master, so why are you trying to love two?
Joshua said that he would serve the Lord. Who are you serving?
Can the world see Christ in you? Or are you so caught up in the things of this world that you have forgotten to put God first in all areas of your life.
{Joshua 24:15}
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for meand my house, we will serve the LORD.
If God is not first in your life then you are causing confusion in both your life and in the lives of the lost. So who do you love? Do you love God or do you love Satan?
Your life is telling on you.
You either love God or you love Satan. And your life is a testimony of whom it is your trusting in.
God says to not trust in our own understanding but to trust in him.
(Proverbs 3:5-7)
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Are you serving God, fully trusting in him or do you trust in yourself and your own understanding?
So who are you serving?
Are you really serving the Lord when you act just like the world?
