A Riddle a Rhyme, from another time, March 2009

Writing, writing so many words to capture to shine, so little time, and now I present to you another original poem of mine, from 2009.

Below is a direct link to  where I first published this non-exclusively.

The Riddle that is Death

The ocean it is deep.
The tall mountains are steep.

The stars in the sky are without number.
The world is scarred with many sorrows, is it any wonder?

The soul is hidden deeper than the caves under the ocean.
The memories we keep fall away even as we try to recall.

Our number has come up even before we have looked at the stars in the sky.
Even as we recall memories long forgotten into death we fall.

The enclaves of the heart are broken, even before we can take a notion.
Sorrows of this world, are hidden beneath the walls of the heart.

No longer do we run to the top of the mountains, or down to the ocean.
Darkness has covered the trails of our youth, no where is there left to fall.

Tomorrow has come, and now our soul is left to roam.
For the place of our youth is no more, no more do we have a home.

Stars in the sky without number, forgotten memories recalled.
When our steps grow silent where will our bodies fall.

Walk we must because until death we part, we have no home.
So through this world we roam.

Seeking the last door.
Opening each door with care, knowing this could be the last forever more.

Walking, walking, shadows closing in.
Soon our footsteps will grow silent as death bids us enter in.

Shadows of the night flicker fading away.
Today our footsteps have gone another way.

Death has came calling, so now we must part.
No sorrows beyond deaths door, this we can know from the heart.

Silence has filled our steps, the heart has cried.
Never our footsteps will echo through the night, for we have died.

Goodbye's have been said.
Now you know what has been said of old of the dead.

Knowing of the day death will stand at your door, means death is lingering near.
Have no fear, for the angel of death will guide you safely over here.

Now I must go, for death has come knocking at the door.
Death has lingered ever near waiting for goodbyes to be said, but no more.

For death waits but for a moment, then takes your hand.
The crip of death is certain, you'll soon understand.

Pain is gone away.
For death came by this door today.
