Dancing Daisies a poem from 2010

Dancing Daisies

Roses are red, violets are blue,
But the happiest of them all is the daisies growing wild under the sun.

Running far, and wide we look for love that is true.
But somehow we've lingered to long under a dreadful sun.

Chiggers and thorns, sticking through to the heart-
Words spoken fallen on deaf ears soon cause the soul to depart.

Grieved through and through, is it any wonder time stands forever still.
Worn and rejected time and again, soon forever ill.

A faint beating heart, desiring soon to depart-
Grief stricken, and all alone, the poet has finished the lingering art.

Departing from words, to stillness, refusing to remember the concerns of another time and place-
Looking once, looking twice, knowing finally for sure a stranger has taken filled the empty space.

Tomorrows' forgotten, today's in the past, yesterday a distant forgotten memory.
The daisies fall heaving signs of grief, knowing today, to bondage goes what once was free.

Believing invincible, haughty, stiff-necked, and proud, so goes the ignorant soul-
Forever soon for another to toil-

Smiles all gone, knowing it won't be long, time having grown forever short.
Lifting a contrite heart knowing not from this world soon would a soul, depart from an earthly port.

Forsaken and all along, the captain watched as the last daisies fell.
Watching so sadly, knowing in ignorance so many had danced into a devil's hell-

Pulling up anchor the ship begins to sail, and the captain begins to hum...
Roses are red, violets are blue...the dancing daisies they've all fled...pass the rum...

Dancing daisies, dancing poesy's too, all brilliant colors in a field of blue-
Sky so red, stars so bright, on the clouds soon we'll dance it's true.

Walking on clouds so high, forever forgetting all that was, never remembering love that was lost.
Blown away as a vapor, feelings once so transparent now forgotten, time having known the final cost-

Once a time of dread, now a time welcomed at last-
Silence, separation, the last net it has been cast.

For you I prayed.
Forever you've strayed.

Believing a vain lie-
In pride you laugh, never more will I cry.

Tears all dried, I'll walk away.
Knowing that some must come through the hard turbulent fray...

Roses are red, violets are blue,
Dancing daisies happiest they are, as the storms carry them to the skies of blue...
