Even as I Die
You've Not Won
Striking once again, you've come to apply a knife to my inner-most heart.
Laughing you believe you've won at last, as my soul begins to part.
Believing you've won, you dance, you prance with glee.
Perhaps there is something you should know, but maybe I'll let it be.
You laugh, you mock, you're happy I know.
Believing at long last you've ended my show.
Happy are you, as you believe you've destroyed all that was within me.
Yet, you know not, your pride, it has broken the shell that confined the captive, and now I am free.
Free to walk on the winds of the air.
Knowing forever more the one who really ever did care-
My life as such as it was ended, yet I still live.
You've taken from me all the treasures this world could ever hold, shown me this world has nothing to give.
Through the many fires you've sent my way, I've seen the only one who walks steady.
To you I've never bowed the knee, yet to another I've given my heart and soul, knowing it is to Him, I owe, for He has made a way even for me.
You've mocked, and tormented, sought so hard to destroy all that I held dear.
Yet you've forgotten the one who walks ever near.
Placing my full trust in Him alone, I know whither I live or die, I've a happy home a waiting.
To Heaven soon I may go, but there in victory I'll ever more sing.
The way it has been long, many snares along the way, yet through it all He has delivered me.
A promise made, He's fully set my feet free.
A tangle snare, a trap it was set by the one who does destroy.
Yet the heartbreak, and pain forever it will one day be gone, in Heaven we'll sing the victor's song of full joy.
