Are You Listening? a poem I wrote in 2009

Are You Listening?
Are You Comprehending?

National ID cards, Treaties with the Child.
Oh, my, this world is so wild.

Government bailouts, Government handouts,
But none for you, none for me, don't you pout.
The government has your life all laid out.

Find your place in line.
Right over their will do just fine.

Soon your entitlement plan-
'It'll be right in your hand.

You'll be broke it's true.
But don't you worry, there will be no one left to sue.

Your wages taken for bailouts and entitlements soon you will receive.
All at the government hands, only believe, only believe. And your entitlement you'll receive.

Don't worry, don't be frugal don't say for a rainy day.
Save be frugal, and you will pay.
Pay until you have no more to pay, pay and pay.

When you have nothing left to give. Your government will say "let us give you a helping hand."
In exchange for our help you must give us your land.

You'll give us your life; you dream your goals, your money too.
You'll obey our rule.
We'll tell you just what to do.

Because you have been bought and sold.
Someone tried to warn you, but comprehension to the warnings you could not hold.

Now for your choice you will pay.
"Come this way..."

Your silence has made a prison for you.
Silence has for you paved the way to your rue.

Suffering and sorrows it will be yours, but don't worry, your government will lend you a hand.
Don't try to stand, don't try to be independent. Independence it is not the rule of your new land.

We will tell you where to work, where to live, how many children you may have, we will tell you just what to do.

We will tell you when you can go to the doctor; we will tell you when you will die.
 We will make you cry.

Comprehension, warnings, we tried to tell you. We tried so hard.
Our words fell on ears that could not hear, we were made to depart.

Now you will pay.
But when will you pray?

Turn from your wicked deeds.
You know your needs.

There is a way, you can still receive.
Hope for you it is not lost, if you will only believe.

You misplaced your trust.
Now your government is corrupt.

Don't look at me.
I could see.
I tried to warn, but where was my degree?

You thought I was ignorant, but it was you.
A degree, an income so high, you thought I had no clue.

Laughing me to scorn you went on your way.
And now it is me who you ask to pray.
I'll not turn away, although I could see this day.

We will walk together, for a time.
But soon I will go away, leaving you with your crime.

You placed your trust in the government.
I placed my trust in one so much higher than an establishment.

Soon your government will take your soul.
But mine it has already been paid for with much toil.

I'll not go through so much tribulation, as you.
But my friend it's not too late, for you.
Turn around, and look at the one who died just for you.

Turn around and see the one who can keep you safe from eternal rue.
You have one last chance. This may be your last.
You're still breathing; your soul has not past.

It is your choice.
It is your choice.

Turn around think with comprehension, what is it you see.
Where in eternity will you be?
