Benefits of Getting Rid of Your Alarm Clock...an article I wrote in Dec 2009
This I wrote because of being aggravated with alarm clocks, particularly those that are constantly snoozed. This was a non-exclusive aticle. This was a non-exclusive article, performance pay only.

Benefits of Getting Rid of Your Alarm Clock
This is My Personal Opinion
Just why should you get rid of your alarm clock? This is really a valid question. Now I can see some of you are thinking, "But, I need my alarm clock".
Well, it is my opinion from my own experience that starting each and every day or at least every working day, with an alarm clock is a great way to start the day with a headache. Also a bad mood in general, especially if the alarm clock is set by your loving spouse who never sets the alarm to when "he" actually wants to get up, but sets it in stages.
I absolutely hate it when the alarm goes off, and goes off, and my husband hits the snooze repeatedly. It makes me feel like hitting him. And I may have at times. Because that the alarm clock going off repeatedly just gets on my nerves. So benefit number one would be no one will start the day feeling like clobbering someone else. Or may even make someone dump water on you so that you will get the hint, "turn the alarm off", and just get up. Not needing to change the bedcovers due to water splashed on you is another good beneficial reason to get rid of the noisy alarm clock.
Also some unnamed individuals have been known to not only set one alarm clock in stages to go off every ten to fifteen minutes, but also have alarms on the cell phone that will go off. This makes for a noisy and unpleasant awakening. I've actually known several people who have done this. For the record this is a bad idea.
This is just not the best way to start your day or mine.
Also in my opinion awakening to a loud noisy alarm clock is not healthy and puts undue stress on the human body. Remember I said awakening to alarm clock makes my head hurt, and makes me just have a bad mood a lot. Plus I end up not getting very much done in the house that I need to get done.
Now I discovered that when I finally had the option of not awakening to a loud and noisy alarm clock, I was able to get up earlier, and get more done throughout my day.
How this option became available to me was through a series of events, one my husband lost his job, and no longer needed to be up at strange hours. (Where he had previously worked, had him coming in at odd hours, 2am, 3:30am 4am, etc., depending on the week.*The company he had been working for was closing up shop, and the last several months were very stressful, because of odd hours.)
Also when my husband drove a truck last year I never used an alarm clock at all. And I was able to get up early, and do a lot of things around our home.
Now you may be wondering just how do you get up without an alarm clock. Well for starters you need to go to bed earlier. That always helps. But also when you go to bed at night sleep in a dark room, without alarm clocks lighting up the room, sleeping in a dark room, helps in my opinion to set your natural clock. Your body does have a natural rhythm, and you can adjust your internal clock to get up.
If and when you do decide to get rid of your alarm clock, it is best to begin this readjustment to your lifestyle, at a time when you do not have set deadlines to meet if at all possible. Because if you have become dependent on an alarm clock or several alarm clocks even, to awaken you of a morning. You may find it will take several days or so to adjust to allowing yourself to wake up to peace and quiet, not a noisy buzzing alarm clock, that just sets the day off bad, in my personal opinion.
Go to bed earlier, so that you can wake up well rested. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel after a few months of going to bed earlier. Then get up when you wake up in the morning don't lay there and wait for the alarm clock to go off.
Also if you really must use an alarm clock, set it for the time you really want to get up, setting it for an hour or two before you really want to get up, and snoozing it, repeatedly, just makes for an unpleasant environment for everyone. Plus you do not really get rested, and in my opinion you just set yourself up to be grouchy for the whole day.
Going to bed earlier, during the time my husband was driving a truck enabled me to get up earlier, to get more done around the house. Not using an alarm clock, helped me to be more relaxed, and in my opinion was a significant aid to some of the weight I lost during the time my husband was a long distance driver.
To date I've lost around 95 pounds, I still need to lose quite a bit more. But this is the most weight I've lost in years, and with very little effort.
Alarm clocks grate on my nerves a great deal especially when someone continually snoozes, them.
If I had my way we would of lost the alarm clocks years ago, currently, my husband is not driving a truck, and I am NOT going to tell him where any alarm clock might be.
The main benefit of getting rid of the alarm clock, is knowing that you will need to go to bed earlier so that you can get up when you need to. Also it makes for a more pleasant day.
