Have I Offended You?..."a poem from 2009

Have I Offended You?
Don't Worry Give Me Time, I'll Get to You Next.

Have I offended you?
Don't worry, it won't be long.

Run around there to that line you see.
It's a little long.

People easily offended just because of me.
All day long.

Now don't you worry.
If I haven't offended you yet.

Surely you'll be next in line.
Without intent, I have offended many I have met.

Seems I must have a knack.
A knack you'll soon regret.

Offended?
Don't you worry, I don't even have to try.

Soon I'll get under your skin.
You could be next, in that long line.

Someday soon you'll agree...
An offense it was made, it was mine.

Offended, never you say.
Don't worry, I'll direct you to that line...

Never say never the line is long.
Offended so easily, so many "friends" of mine.

Imagine if perhaps by chance, I had chose to offend.
Would be no trouble it is so easy now.

I'd laugh at those I have offended...
But maybe I should take a bow...

I have learned some interesting things you see.
When a disagreeable truth is spoken, unease abounds.

So easy is it to say,"You have offended me"
Turning around I search for the words I have cast upon the grounds...

Looking I can't see. Hearing I don't know.
Offended you turn and go.

Puzzled I know your name has been added to the growing line.
Sighing I'll turn around, because I know...

My friend I can see it is you who is at the front of the line.
Offended you are, now I must go.

Wonder if I should make a list. Invite special guests.
Only those who I've offended a special invitation, you know.

A special request. Only the best.
Have I offended you yet? Don't worry you may be next.

Turn around see that line?
I'll offend you without a word, I'll offend you with a text.

Don't worry, I seem to have a knack...
You may be next.

See that line over there?
Look at it close. Now take your place.

Have I offended you yet?
Don't you worry, there's still space.

Offended, offended, silly people can't you see.
It isn't me. That has caused you so much grief, it isn't me.

Don't worry, I know you want to believe.
Your offense it was because of me.

See I told you, that soon I would see you in that line.
Take a number, I'm getting good at this I can see.

Offended you are, offended because of me.
Offended because I made you see.

Looking at reality, made you squirm, made you uneasy too.
So you run to the front of the line.

Offended, offended. All because of me.
Laughing I'll walk away, your tears were mine.

Seeing you could not see, hearing you did not hear.
Screaming at me, you say I have crossed a line.

Turning from you I'll not hear. Turning from you I'll not see.
Silence will echo, mine.

Walking away, I can see your offended, so I'll lead you to the head of the line.
Have I offended you?

If I haven't you may soon be at the head of a very long line.
Now, I'll turn away, walk away, I can see you'll do time in a long line.

Intentional I wasn't but still the same, I have a unique talent you know...

Offended, yet?
No need to worry, I'll go.

Looking at you I can see, I can see it in your face, your words, your pace.
I have once again offended someone, so I need to go.

But remember my friend,it was you in the end...
Your offense, was made complete by no foe.

Offended you may be, this is true.
But it was you who walked to the head of that line, didn't you know?

Offended by words or deeds, it was your choice.
Offended you may be, but it was to the mirror you should go...

Look into the mirror, see who it is that looks back at you.
My friend your pride it shows no matter where you row...

Prideful and deceitful is the heart.
Take time to digest my words, read them slow.

The only offense was the dust was blown from your mirror.
Rage at what was revealed, it made your temper glow.

Too soon, you ran to the head of that line.
Deciding an offense it was meant, when I did not know.

Prideful and deceitful, is your heart.
Laughing I'll walk away, soon your rage will go...
