Do You Know My Name?

As you lay sleeping I slipped in.
As you lay compliant and undisturbed I slipped in.

Slipping in, I laughed as your calamity fell all around.
Laughing I celebrated as your wounded and dead fell to the ground.

As your security is shaken, I watch as you begin to wake.
Struggling within your new found bonds, I watch as you begin to shake.

Laughing I watch as you try to regain, lost ground.
Watching you I wonder if you see how tightly your new bonds are wound.

It is so funny you walked in pride.
Riding the high waves, you never saw the break in the tide.

Suddenly I see your face, as your eyes begin to flicker open.
I laugh, as you begin to see your pen.

Waking you decide you can win.
Believing yourself able to win, you begin.

You believe yourself strong.
Yet, I know what is wrong.

Believing yourself right
How blind are you to your truest fright?

Silently, I slipped in while you lay sleeping.
Silently, I now watch as you lay weeping.

I wonder have you yet seen who I am.
I watch, and I wait, wondering will you see who I am.

Watching you, I see that finally yes you are beginning to fully wake.
As I see you wake, I begin to shake.

As you fully wake, I know my time with you it is coming to an end.
Soon I know I must go, as to you I was never a friend.

You see I entered in slowly, silently, swiftly, as only I can do.
My name, if you must know, it is sin, I come softly, I come deceptively, I come filled with rue.

When you forsake to stay close to the one whom, you claim to believe, my entrance is made wide.
My dear friend, I come when you least expect, I come when your heart and mind is filled with pride.

I come swiftly, I come silently, I come when you are least aware.
I come when your guard is down; I come when to "Him" you give no care.

I come intending to stay.
I come when you neglect to pray.

My dear, I stay, comfortable, and content, as your love grows cold.
My dear, I stay when your words, your faith is a story that is never told.

Comfortable, and content, I linger and stay.
With you I'll linger many a long and tiring day.

But please my friend; never ever once stoop to pray.
Please my friend get up off that bended knee, unfold those hands, I still have much to say --

As you lay content, sleeping, neglecting to read, neglecting to pray, I slipped in.
But my dear, as I see you pick up your Bible, blowing the dust off, I know I cannot win.

Now don't go overboard, the Bible you've dusted it, now please place it back upon the shelf.
Hurry please, don't look to close, now don't flip the pages, please hurry place it upon the nearest shelf.

Here let me help you, look over there, place it there, just out of sight.
My dear friend, I slipped in, while you lay sleeping, I slipped in, intending to stay, but that Bible it gives such a fright.

Comfortable I was, when I saw you neglecting the one to whom you now pray.
Content, I was when I saw from His love you had long gone astray.

But my time it is soon to end, as I can see your bonds are breaking one by one.
This battle it will soon be finished, it will soon be fought, it will be over, I will have not won.

I can see your hand is opening the revealing word, showing you how I entered in.
Shaking, quivering I watch as you read the details of how I gained entrance of how I planned to win.

My strategy revealed, I see the smoke begin to rise.
Watching you, I can't believe you've become so wise.

My name it is sin, I play for keeps, and I intend to win.
But my dear friend, I can never win the battle if you don't first allow me to enter in --

If I am to win, the field must be level, you must never hear "His" words, you must never know of "His" mercy, of "His" divine grace.
My dear friend, my hand it is open to you, empty, unfulfilling, no mercy, and no grace do I extend, for you see my dear I wish your name in the flames to trace.

I wish to watch you fall into the depths of the flames, even as I.
I've no hope, I've no mercy, I've no saving grace, I've long ago sought my own way, the "Devil" is my guide.

You see, my dear my name is sin.
I come silently, I come softly, I come seeking all whom I may deceive I come intent to win.

Your hurts, your trials, they are of no importance to me.
When you blame the one who wrote the Bible I shout with glee.

I laugh as I watch you reject or neglect the greatest gift that ever was purchased for you.
I laugh because I know the price, I know to reject this greatest gift will result in you joining me in full rue.

Oh, how delighted am I when I see you profane "His" holy name.
How happy am I when I see your fate it will soon be in the burning flame.

My name it is sin, I come often, I visit frequently, it is you who opened the door that I might come in.
How do you say no? My dear, do you not know, that when you reject the only "one" whom from the flames can deliver, you give me the reigns to your life, and I will win.

I will win, your soul for the depths of Hell, I will lead you safely to the shores of the Lake of Fire.
Not only will I lead you, I will push you over, I'll give testimony against you, I'll be the witness against you that will never tire.

My dear, if you've neglected the greatest gift that was ever purchased, I've nothing from you to fear.
My name it is sin, I fear no unrepentant soul, as I've that one already laid claim, my dread, it comes from those who accept the gospel of Christ that is ever so clear.

Now my friend, I wish to stay, I wish your soul to lay claim.
Put that Bible down, unfold those hands, do not call upon "His" name.

Do not call upon that name, please do not call out for mercy, do not call upon that name.
My dear, I have many charges I wish to lay to your name.

I have filed away all your faults, all your negligence, I have much to say, I'll never tire.
Please don't place my words under the blood, I wish to take you with me to the fire.

Don't place my words under the blood; please don't make me go away.
My name it is sin, and I want to stay.

Don't go near the cross, please turn around, and step back.
Come back to me, don't close that open door, please leave it open if but a crack.

I come swiftly, I come silently, I come intending to stay, I'm playing for keeps.
I wish to see you accompany me to the flames, I plan to for eternity laugh as your heart breaks and weeps --

Close that Bible, turn a deaf ear, please listen to me, I wish to stay, I wish to come in.
Don't you know that I can't win, when the "Blood of the Lamb" is applied as it covers my every move, it seals from view my accusations, in silence alone will the flames I enter in.

Flames of fire surrounding me, no mercy, no hope, and no grace for me can be found.
I cry as I see your knees bend to the ground --

Having lost you forever, I seek to rectify this problem, that I now have, I seek now to destroy your testimony.
I look for ways to create chaos in your life, I work hard, I work fast, I work through your home, your friends, your family, and finally through your money.

Having lost you, I am filled with rage.
Filled with rage I descend towards you searching every page.

But again, and again, my way it is barred, as you open your Bible and pray.
I wait and I watch each and every day.

I hope to come unexpectedly I wish to steal from you your witness your testimony.
I wish others to believe you are but a phony.

If only you would be silent, if only you would cease to pray.
If only you would never have heard the gospel of Christ that leads to the everlasting day.

Why my dear friend do you pray?
Why my dear friend do you neglect with me to play?

My dear it is so hard to continue to call you friend.
Especially as I see your hands folded, in prayer, as I see your knees begin to bend.

You know it would be so much easier if my hand once again you would take.
It would be so much easier for us both if you would have never accepted the "one" who can never "His" child forsake.

I see your prayers, I see your life, I watch as steadily you lay claim to every promise, my confidence, my pride it fades as every day I see you commune with "Him" as I see you pray.
My name it is sin, my words silenced by "the Blood of the Lamb", I know I must from you go away --
