Easter Time, the last poem I wrote for March 2009

Easter Time

Many years ago,
Not so long ago, you know-

We would look forward to Easter morning.
Every Easter, we knew to get up early.

Because the "easter bunny" would of came.
Hiding a basket of Easter Candy.

One basket filled for each of us.
Filled with candy, and pinwheel toys.

We would eat candy till we were sick.
This was the only time of year besides Christmas
-when there would even be a candy stick.

We would colour Easter Eggs,
Play hide and seek.
Such fun we would have. On Easter Day.

It is so sad,
For we thought the day was because of the Easter bunny.
So strange some have made Easter seem, to be no more than another pagan holiday.

Soon Easter will be here again.
Have you told your children of the Easter Bunny?
Or have you told them of the empty tomb?

Celebrate Easter with candy if you must.
But rememeber in whom you must trust.

It is not the Easter Bunny.
There is only one who loved you enough to die. This you should know honey.

Fun and games, Candy too.
But remember there is one who died just for you.

Paying the debts we could not pay.
Now our Saviour lives, waiting each day-

Waiting on you to follow Him,
Not down the "Bunny Trail", with Peter CottonTail...never going in.

But waiting patiently on you to follow Him, along the narrow way.
So one day, in heaven you'll walk on streets gold paved.

Easter may be fun, this is true.
But remember it was around Easter that time was divided.

Jesus Christ forever won over the pagan rituals of the past.
His love forever lasts.

Security of your future was purchased, on that day.
It was just for you and me, that he passed that way.

Around Easter so many years ago.

A childhood of Easter memories with no mention of the Saviour, is indeed sad.
So as you pass out the easter candy, take a little time to tell of the one who left the tomb.

Left the tomb for good, on Easter morning.
Leaving behind mourning.

Today, we look forward to the return of Jesus Christ, maybe He will come today.

Maybe he will come again this Easter morning.
Soon there will be no more departing, no more mourining.

Because Jesus paid it all.
And it is for you He now is calling...

I hope you all have a joyful, and happy Easter morning.
And remember for the Christian departing there should be no mourning.

We will live, because "He" gave "His" all.
Won't you answer the final call.

It is the last time.
He is calling just for you this time-
