Eviction Means You'll Be Moving

Ok, so you need to move and you're rather in a bit of a hurry, so what do you do?
Panic! No, not really, as that would not be very productive for you or anyone else. What you need to do is formulate a plan, just how soon do you have to be out of your home?

 

 

 

Ok, so the eviction notice says that you must vacate the premises within thirty days. So take a deep breath, count to ten. This is only day one. You need a goodnights sleep. It is easier to think about what you will do after you have had time to calm down.



Your eviction notice may be because that you have done something to break your rental contract, or you may just have a landlord who has decided they no longer wish to rent to you. Normally the landlord will give you a reason as to why you are being evicted.



You may or may not agree, but unless you have an abundance of money it is probably best to just cut your losses and move as quickly as possible.



Going to court for any reason is not pleasant; to go to be evicted from your home to me would just be worse.



So what you will need to do first after a good night's sleep is to look at your options. Do you have the funds to rent another place to move, do you have family or friends you may stay with for a short amount of time?



If you find that you have very limited resources, and no one to stay with for a few days or weeks, then you will need to get your belongings into storage as quickly as possible, to avoid losing your personal belongings.



Placing things into a self-storage facility will give you a little extra time to get yourself going in a better direction. Such as a place to another place to live, you will also want to make sure you leave your soon to be previous home as clean, and neat as possible.



Yes, even if you are evicted from your home you do need to leave your old home, as clean and neat as possible. It is never a good to leave a mess behind.



So after you've taken a goodnight sleep, set yourself a schedule. First on the list should be ensuring that you get all of your personal belongings out of the rental unit. Either rent a storage unit, or find a place to store your belongings. After you have taken care of your belongings, you will need to go through your home, and clean everything. Not only is this polite, it will ensure that you do not leave anything behind that you may want to keep.



The reason for your eviction is less important than how you leave your previous home at this point.
