Long Ago Forgotten Summer
Searching along the river bank, I look for the round stones.
Searching I find the flat, round river stones.
Having found my treasure, soon to the depths my treasure do I fling--
Looking back, seeing no one, knowing no one truly cares, to the birds I sing.
Lifting my eyes to the Heavens I see the crows as they fly overhead.
Flying high, I listen as the crows begin to call, caws of greetings, I remember I'm not yet dead.
Walking along, I search again the river banks, finding only the pyrite.
A fool's treasure, a gold that lasts but a moment, again I fling away my stones with all my might.
Laughing I turn away, as I see the water ripple's, the waves carrying away my face.
Laughing I linger but a moment as I know I've no place --
