Do You Love Me? a poem from 2010

Do You Love Me?
Do You Even Care?
I love you, do you love me?
Sometimes we really wonder who really cares.
We take so much for granted. Looking past what we should see.
Pretending to care, trying hard not to listen to another's fears and cares.
Knowing if we listen to closely, everyone will know we are hurting too.
Calming another, we take time to say, "Everything will be just fine," you'll see.
Rushing away, we explain we've much to do.
Making promises, we don't intend to keep, accepting a promise we flee.
Desiring someone to understand, looking for guidance.
We walk away, knowing we've once again elevated circumstances, well above another's tears.
Listening we don't hear, watching we don't see, yet the music plays on, and now we must dance.
Little by little all is past, water under the bridge, a day, a week, a month soon so many lost years.
I love you, do you love me?
Sometimes I really wonder does anyone dare.
True love is fleeting and a fancy, a far away dream. From me it will ever flee.
My heart breaks yet again, but who really does care.
