I Remember




I remember blue skies, puffy white clouds.
I remember running down a driveway, parade's in town, loud clapping crowds.



I remember fleeing away in the night.
I remember the roaring of anger, of overwhelming fright.



I remember singing the song of the "Old Lady, who swallowed a fly"
I remember glass jars, running through the twilight catching fire flies, watching the bats fly.



I remember people coming and going, friends and acquaintances, and family dying.
I remember when I stopped crying.



I remember someone calling.
I remember you falling.



I remember when the world stopped turning.
I remember when the stars fell from the sky.



And I remember you.
Memories so far, so distant now, all began under a cloudy blue sky.



Time and distance making memories intertwine.
Blurred together everything looks the same.



A distant blur, memories have faded.
Time somehow has washed away many heartaches through which I've waded.



I remember you.
Do you still remember me?



We played together yester year, we ran away yesterday.
Do you remember all the love we gave away?
