Praying Through the Night a poem from 2010

Praying Through the Night

Praying for you the night has long since turned to day.
Yet, still you've chosen to go your own way.

Believing another you must trust.
Somehow your mind has turned to rust.

I've prayed for you, believing God's will just for you.
Yet, so tightly to what is fallen and broken you cling, never knowing soon a debt it will be due.

Saying you believe the one true God alone, you turn away, believing you may walk in your own wisdom.
Angry with me, as this world you've stared too long, forgetting all you see will soon lie forgotten hidden in a fiery tomb.

Watching others seemingly succeed, you wish to roam.
Forgetting this world it is not our home.

This battle it is not ours, neither still is this war, yet the noise of battle deafens your ear.
Have you truly forgotten the One who has for you won this war, my dear?

The battle rages on, but the war it was won, already.
We are waiting only for the straggler's to catch hold of the faith that has set them free.

Soon the dust will settle, the fields will be cleared, a Harvest gathered standing so bright.
The sheaves ever more standing, as past is the night-

Soon the night will turn to day.
Again, for you I return to pray.

Knowing your faith it is weak, knowing that it is through the fire you'll be coming.
Through the fire you'll be coming, ever more His praises to sing...
