Even the Birds Know
A little blue bird sitting outside my window pane...
Staring at me, intensely studying my walking cane...
Looking out I stare back, at the tiny little bluebird.
Suddenly flapping its' wings, rising into the air without one word...
Slowly I turn from my window pane, to face my daily pain.
My freedom fulfilled, not yet have I laid claim.
Shuffling my feet, I tightly hold on to my cane.
Fearing to let go, having once travelled the same road as Cain.
Clouds all around me, a beautiful blue sky...
Why do I wait, do I choose to cry?
A little bird studied my plight with much thought.
Finally leaving me, without one word, I know I ought...
But my hand is firmly clasped to the broken handle, of the unsteady cane.
Soon my time will wane...
Will it really then be too late?
An appointment I have, I'll not miss, it is soon with Death I must mate.
Little bluebird watching ever so closely through my window pane-
Soon you'll have a message of Heavenly gain.
Releasing my grip from my broken cane, I reach for His strong hand.
Soon He'll lead me through to the Promised Land.
Accepting at once freedom, refused for so many years.
Soon a Harvest will be reaped, that was sown with many tears...
