"What Can Be Accomplished During a Company's Strike?"

Sometimes workers go on strike because they are trying to bring attention to unsafe working condtions. This can be an effective way to attrack a lot of attention quickly. Which can be a good thing sometimes.

There may be other ways to voice concerns about what is going on within a company. But when serious safety concerns are not being addresses, then a company wide strike may be a good thing short term. A long drawn out strike is more likely to be very costly. Some company's may even go out of business because of striking employee's.

As I said earlier though sometimes a strike can be productive for both employer's and employee's. While words or memo's sent may be ignored, money talks. No workers mean that no products will be made, and costs will start to accummilate. As customers orders go unfilled.

This means that while a company may of ignored concerns before. Now with rising cost of an on going strike the company will be forced to take some kind of action. This could be fixing the problems or just hiring all new workers.

The company will likely spend less money long term if they fix any safety issues, that have been brought up.

Because when an employee is seriously injured or killed because of unsafe working conditions then the company has to find out what led to the unsafe conditions. Also the unsafe conditions will need to be fixed. Then if it is proven that the serious injury or death could have been prevented then the company faces the possibility of fines from the government. Then the family may also sue. Plus during this time the company is likely to not be doing any business as things are investigated.

Then at the same time because of someone being seriously injured or killed others at the plant may just quit, or go on strike. All of which will cost a company a lot of money. While some companies may be able to recover not all will be able to which may lead to a company going out of business.

A strike can be a good thing in some cases but not in every situation. Sometimes greed motivates someone to strike. Such is the case when someone just wants more money. In today's world a strike is really not needed, because most of the time workers can just change jobs, or start their own business.

There are ways to increase your income, which do not include leading a strike. Also any employee can request a pay raise if they do so in the proper manner. Greed or personal job insecurity is not a good reason for a strike.

If someone wants or needs more money then that person should look for ways to improve their income, either through better budgetting skills, or selling excess items around their home. Take a second job, take classes to improve job skills. For job security someone needs to make theirselves valuable to the company. By being a highly skilled worker who keeps up with what is going on in their job market.

Something else all employee's should do is take pride in what they do. So that a company does not feel the need to find cheap labor that does better work. Everyone who works for someone else should do their work so that it is of very high quality.

While strikes may of had their place at one time, for the most part that time is gone. Because there are many more opportunities for people in America than there used to be. So long as one is willing to work hard, budget well. and not take their job for granted.

A worker who strikes is really taking their job for granted. They are also hurting a lot of other people.
Because the cost of an employee's strike will raise the cost of many different things. Plus if it goes on long enough the company may just shut down. Then the striking workers are back to square one as they will now need to look for a new job.

What a worker who strikes should really ask themselves is whether or not they should just start their own company. Then that worker can be the one who is responsible for doing quality work, finding and keeping customers etc.

The ability to work should never be taken for granted, neither should a job. If you do not like your company don't complain, just leave. Find a different job. After all you are not married to your job. Not really anyway.
