About Where You Live, this was written in 2007

     
For this article I was paid 3.81, not very much but about consistent with what I've been making all along with a few rare exceptions.

This was an article written after my oldest son passed away.

I have never however lived in a neighborhood as nice as I currently live in, and I sincerely wish we could have lived in a neighborhood such as I live in now, when my older children were growing up. However, we didn't and we can't ever go back in time. Some times are wishes are just empty wishes that can never be attained.

When you decide to move to a new area, what are some things to look for?

Well besides a house, apartment, mobile home or other dwelling that will fit your budget. It is a good idea to look at what is close to where you will live.

Are there stores or parks near where you will live? If so are they close enough to walk to, with sidewalks?

Or would it be safer to just drive to any stores or parks, you may want to visit. While it may seem like a minor thing about the availability of sidewalks, this will be very important to someone who wishes to walk to nearby stores or parks safely.

Even if someone is very careful, they are more likely to be hit and killed by a driver if they are walking along the side of the road. Walking on a sidewalk is safer, and should be available to everyone in any size city or town. Sidewalks lessen the dangers for walkers from drivers, especially distracted drivers.

Besides an affordable place to live that meets your needs, what else should someone look at when they move into a new area? Well if you have school age children that you plan to send away to school. (Public or private schools) then you need to decide what school your child will attend. If possible and if you have many options as to where to live you need to also check on the safety and quality of the school your children will be attending. (Families who home school their children do not have to do this. Instead the home school family will just need to make sure they are in compliance with the laws for their new neighborhood.)

Okay, so what else should you look for in your new neighborhood? Unless you are independently wealthy you will also need a source of income. This means you will either work for someone else or you will have your own business.

If you work for someone else, then basically your days will be spent doing what your employers needs for you to do. Until your employer decides your services are no longer needed. This happens quite often these days. Then if your employment ends due to your employer moving or closing down, you will have to start job searching.

So if your job ends you have three choices depending on your age and savings and general financial situation.

Your three main choices are these go on unemployment until that you can find a new employer, retire, or start your own business.

Now you may have a few more choices I have not thought of at the moment. depending on where you have chosen to live will also determine what types of jobs available to you, or what types of businesses available to you.

This is another reason that location is so important to not only where you choose to live but also on where you choose to start a business.

Because if you choose a location that is also suitable to your talents, skills and abilities then you also choose a backup plan just in case you find that you need to rely on yourself for your income one day.
Unemployment checks running out or becoming tired of working for someone else are both reasons to start your own business.

Your location matters.

Neighborhoods are all made up of people some good, some not so good. But even if you have to live in an area that is not quite to your liking you can make a difference in that neighborhood. By the way you treat others, and by keeping your home clean and neat inside and out.

Also don't have loud parties at all hours, show consideration for others. All of these things help to make a neighborhood a great place to live.

Pretty scenery, parks, sidewalks, and well kept yards are all nice, but what makes the neighborhood more than anything are friendly people.

So find an area you like, check it out best you can then if you decide to move into a new home in a new neighborhood, and then decide to be the best neighbor you can be.

Be friendly, expect the best of everyone, but be prepared for the worst. Then just be friendly and get along with your neighbors.
