How will you spend this Fourth of July?

Many will be going to family reunions, grilling out, maybe even going on vacation, some may even decide to get married. (That's a good way to remember your wedding date by the way). I know several couples who married on the fourth of July.

Then there will always be the fireworks that you can go watch. Some may even set off their own fireworks. If you choose to do this please just be careful. Because if you do mot use proper precautions with any type of fireworks you will find that what had started out as a day of fun ends in severe pain and suffering.

Also some of you may choose to celebrate this holiday through drinking beer with friends. Well if you choose to do this DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE, because if you do you could kill or seriously injure someone. You may even get yourself killed.

As with any holiday you will want to be extra careful on the roads as many roads will be extra busy, and sadly there will be those who choose to drink and drive. So just be careful.

Now that we have all that out of the way what are some fun ways you can enjoy this holiday?

Well you could look around and buy one of those old hand crank ice-cream makers, and invite all the energetic children in your neighborhood over to make ice cream, if you happen to also have children around the same ages. (The kids just turn the crank, and add ice you can mix all the ingredients ahead of time in the canister.) Also if you will have a lot of kids over you may want to have an electric icecream maker so there will be plenty of icecream to go around.

We used to do this sometimes during the summer. We had one of the older hand crank icecream makers. My cousins would come over and the kids that lived nearby and we would make icecream. This was a fun happy time. Even though you had to turn the crank until your arm was sore, but no one had to turn it too long because there was always someone ready to take over, and it was fun really. Plus the icecream was great.

So besides making icecream, and having all the cousins and neighbors over, what else might you do this summer?

Well if your family is musically inclined or just likes to sing, then perhaps someone could help all the kids sing patriotic songs. This will hopefully keep the smaller children busy while lunch is being made. You could also add square dancing, and maybe even set up a volley ball net, depending on the size of your yard, and the location of your yard.

Setting up a chess game in a shaded area, may appeal to some of your quieter relatives and friends.
You can have an enjoyable day, and have fun. Just be wise, drink plenty of water, and don't drink alcohol and drive. Also be very careful with any fireworks you might have.

If you decide to go watch someone else put on a fireworks show then be sure to stay far enough back to avoid any falling sparks. Plus as an added bonus you can see the fireworks better from a distance than right on the front row. Plus when you get ready to go home you may not have as much traffic to deal with.
